The new EC Machine Directive – What you need to know!

In the future, construction machines and vehicles must be equipped with “components suitable for operational safety“. According to the new EC Machine Directive, all manufacturers are obliged to analyze risks and hazards. This includes the mandatory use of CE-compliant conponents and of “harmonized standards“ – three examples:

• ISO5006 describes the visual field of the driver; the area in a 1m distance from the vehicle must be clearly visible to the driver up to a height of 1.5m.
• ISO13766 requires higher stability in terms of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
• ISO16001 defines the product requirements to visual support tools used for hazard identification of earth-moving machines.
